Apple Fest Apple Pies!

With the chill in the air and the changing color of the leaves, we start to think about Apple Fest. This is a time when the fairboard gets to work along with various volunteers to make around 500 apple pies to be sold at Apple Fest. The volunteers come in all ages, they just have to be willing to help.

New Horse Barn

The New Horse barn is up and under roof. The Horse exhibitors are able to use the new facility this year at the fair. It is not complete, but has nearly 100 stalls completed and it is usable! They are looking for stall sponsors. This would include a $100 donation towards the barn and then your name would be placed on a plaque and placed on a stall door. The barn is beautiful, so come take a look at the new facility!

1/2 way through the fair

There is lots to see at the Venango County Fair, So make sure You're There!  The exhibits buildings are full this year with interesting and new exhibits. This week has been a busy week to say the least, but it has been a fun and exciting week here at the Venango County Fair! Here are a few highlights from the fair so far this week. If you haven't been to the fair yet, there is still 3 days to come and enjoy the fun with us!

The 4-H Market goat show and the 4-H Dairy goat show was larger than in the recent years.

The Sheep show followed the goats in the afternoon. Then Monday evening, the track was a busy place with the Demo Derby and a new event for the Fair, Lawnmower Mud Races. The stands were full and the crowds seemed to enjoy every minute.

On Tuesday the arena was busy with the Hog Show.

We did have rain on Tuesday and had to cancel the Lawnmower pulls, but they will most likely be back next year.

The beef show...

At the same time, the 4-H horse show....

The evening was the Antique Farm Tractor Pulls, but the kids had something else in mind. The Kids' Pedal Tractor Pulls. This was a time of real determination and lots of leg work.

The horse barn is going UP!

The horse barn is finally coming to reality! Hopefully the weather will continue to hold so that the barn will be ready for the fair this year!

The Venango County Fair is just around the corner

It's that time of year again and we are hoping that you are planning to attend the Venango County Fair. The fair starts on August 8th- August 13th. Exhibits can be moved into the fairgrounds on Sunday, August 7th. Livestock animals need to be weighed before they are stalled. The scales will be opened from 9am-6pm. There will be a 4-H livestock exhibitors meeting at 6:30pm.  Dairy animals are to be moved in between 9am & 9pm on Sunday with the exception of milking animals that need to be by 11am on Monday.  Horses are to come through the back gate and papers will be checked on the way in. All other exhibits, including rabbits and cavies may be entered from 5-8pm on Sunday and then again on Monday morning from 9-11am.

This is looking like it is going to be a fun and exciting year, so come join us at the Venango County Fair.
